Family. Friends. Music. Tons of food. Love. It’s wedding season baby!!
Whether you’re a family member of the groom/bride, or in the bridal party, or a close friend, or even a plus one.. the atmosphere is electric! There’s no better feeling than getting all dressed up and celebrating the love between 2 people in your life. The cocktail hour is always high energy. The dinner is immaculate. The open bar.. I know I don’t even have to dive into that one ha ha. Dancing and singing your ass off. You’ll always remember nights like these. They truly bring out the truest forms of love and friendship.
Very soon my twin brother is marrying one of the greatest girls in the world, and I couldn’t be more happy for him! I know they dreamt of this day for a long time, and I am lucky enough to be my brother’s best man. It truly is an honor, although I am his only brother ha ha. But, We are best friends, so I am so happy to be his right hand man for their huge day.
But, with this great position, comes great responsibility:
The Best Man Speech.
People may not remember what you said, but they are definitely gonna remember how it made them feel! They’re gonna remember if it was good or bad, if it was too long or awkward. If you made them cry or laugh. It’s a huge honor, but also a huge pressure.
Let me tell ya. I got nervous just thinking about writing my speech ha ha. I’ve never been one to love public speaking. I used to hate it in college. I wouldn’t say I’m shy, but the idea of having a ton of people all focused on me would get to me sometimes. My heart would beat so fast and my social anxiety would just take over right before I had to present anything. So for me this weekend I will be facing one of my fears. Luckily enough it’ll be in front of my favorite people in the world. I’ve been practicing for a couple weeks so I have a lot of confidence in myself that it’s well written. I just hope I don’t get up there and freeze ha ha. I’m just super excited to get it over with and have a nice shot of tequila afterwards.
Any of you ever give a speech at a wedding?! How did it go?! Did you wing it? Did you write it out way before and practice? What are your tips for killing it up there? Your do’s and don’ts of wedding speeches?!
Comment your experiences below and help your boy out! I only get one shot at this ha ha. I’d really appreciate it. I’ll let you know how it goes! Cheers friends🍻
